Shawn D. Edwards, Shareholder

Shawn assists large multinational corporations, regional firms, small businesses, and entrepreneurs in resolving business and commercial disputes of all types including employment matters involving wrongful termination claims, the enforcement of restrictive covenants, and the protection of trade secrets. Shawn also focuses a portion of his practice on representing banks and other financial institutions in pursuing collection of unpaid loans through loan workouts, foreclosures, Article 9 sales and has substantial experience domesticating foreign judgments and pursuing post-judgment collection against debtors’ assets. In addition, Shawn has also represented property owners in pursuing claims against contractors arising from defective construction work.

Prior to joining Maselli Warren, P.C., Shawn served as a law clerk to the Honorable Darrell M. Fineman, Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey. Before attending law school, Shawn taught high school English, worked as a YMCA Program Director, and coached youth football. Shawn grew up in the southwestern suburb of Philadelphia in what is colloquially known as “Delco” and currently resides in Westampton, New Jersey. Outside of the office, Shawn enjoys writing and performing comedy. His #1 fan is his daughter.

Accolades

Secured a preliminary injunction on behalf of a multinational supplier of MRO and repair parts barring a former salesperson and competitor from using or disclosing customer lists and other proprietary business information.

Compelled a foreign competitor of an international trade group to honor a non-competition agreement and terminate its contract with company formed by the client’s former employee.

Secured summary judgment in favor of a regional civil engineering and design firm dismissing age discrimination and retaliation claims brought by a senior management official seeking over $1,000,000 in damages.

Received a directed verdict of “No Cause” on behalf of former attorney finding that client was not liable for law firm owner’s legal malpractice after a three-day jury trial in the Superior Court of New Jersey, “No Cause” verdict entered in favor of a large regional fast food franchisee in a breach of energy supply contract action following a 3-day bench trial in the Philadelphia Commerce Court.

Obtained summary judgment in favor of a real estate holding company recovering interest payments wrongfully charged by a national real estate investment lender; decision was affirmed by the Appellate Division and full judgment amount was paid by lender.

Negotiated a favorable settlement on behalf of the estate of oppressed shareholder in complex shareholder dispute over the management of a family produce business and warehouse.
